Port Jervis, NY – Two employees of local pest control service, “Masters Pest Control,” recently attended BedBug Central’s BedBug University Boot Camp. Held in Lawrenceville, NJ, the “boot camp” is known to be an intensive four-day training session attended by pest management professionals (PMPs) from all over the country. The course attended was held from February 16th through 19th and is one of only three offered annually. All aspects of a bed bug infestation are covered in the “boot camp,” including the insects’ biology, their history and treatment. Business and legal issues associated with their treatment are also covered, along with BedBug Central’s “NO PREP” approach.
Masters’ representatives Tyler Fetherman and Mike Smith were sent to experience this informative training session and incorporate what they learned close to home upon return. Says Fetherman about his own experiences with these pests, “Bed bugs are growing so rapidly in our area.” He adds, “We wanted to see what was working for other people compared to what was working for us, and create a hybrid that would ultimately better our services.”
The first day’s training was held within a classroom format and was presented by BedBug Central Technical Director Jeff White. A local hotel was used for the following day’s “hands-on” session, where participants were split into small groups led by trained technicians from Cooper Pest Solutions. Participants then performed both initial and follow-up treatments that they had learned on remote sites with actual bed bug infestations. The final day saw boot camp attendees cover associated business, legal and administrative aspects to the execution of bed bug treatment, which was provided by CEO of BedBug Central, Phil Cooper.
Many of those PMPs in attendance were impressed with the intensive program and plan to implement the knowledge they gained into their own companies’ bed bug protocols. Along with this practical knowledge, BedBug University’s boot camp assists pest control company’s in attaining recognition of BedBug Central’s “bedbugFREE membership” and Masters Pest Control was one of the companies to receive this accolade. Approved members in this elite club enjoy inclusion to BedBug Central’s servicing network and an ability to employ BedBug Central treatment techniques.
“It is critically important to stay on top of what is the best available technology, adds Bob Masters, owner of Masters Pest Control. “It is this kind of training and education that allows us to provide a quality service and exceptional value. This is the kind of commitment that separates Masters Pest Control from the average pest control company.”
