Montague

Known for many landmarks and interesting locations, Montague in Sussex County is home to:

  • High Point – High Point, and the associated high point state park, is a landmark for many of the nearby townships. It’s a large monument built on the highest point in all of New Jersey. You can see the tower monument from many miles away.
  • Tri-State Rock – A marker for the border of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The rock itself is several feet away from the true border of these 3 points, which resides in the Delaware river.
  • Stokes State Forest – This wooded area includes many trails for hiking, including 12.5 miles of the Appalachian trail! This forest is open to camping, boating, hunting, and fishing.

Ticks in Montague

However, with these great outdoor locations to visit, there’s a great deal of concern for ticks. Ticks can spread Lyme disease, as well as the lesser known Powassan disease. These diseases spread through tick bites, and their symptoms are incredibly serious. Lyme disease can have symptoms including paralysis, and in some cases, can be symptomatic for life. In the case of Powassan disease, “neuroinvasive strains” of the disease have a fatality rate as high as 25%!

With such incredibly dangerous risks associated with ticks, many people avoid the great outdoors altogether, while others resort to DEET and permethrin to repel ticks. These chemicals will work to repel them for short periods of time after application, but when you live in an area with ticks, you’re going to need a more permanent form of protection.

To prevent ticks around your home, there are several preventative measures that can be taken, as well as sprays that can be applied by trained professionals. Fortunately, that’s exactly what we are; our staff of specialists know the sprays and techniques to push ticks out. It’s much more pleasant than covering yourself in nauseating sprays every day, and more effective for a long-term tick solution!

Testimonials

Emmet M. – Hawley, PA

Four years ago we had a problem with carpenter ants. Masters was prompt and effective at getting rid of the pests.

Shawn & Laurie H. – Milford, PA

Tyler, as always, is courteous and professional. He always honors our request in specific areas to make it easier for our dogs in our backyard.

Bill K. – Milford, PA

Very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Did not try to “over sell” services that were not needed. Called Masters for possible termite sighting (which they pointed out we did not need) but they found carpenter ants in another location of our house which they serviced the next work day. Just serviced yesterday so will defer final comments until we see results.
