Franklin

Franklin NJ is no stranger to pests. The area is well known for its fluorescent mineral mines and lesser known for its bee problems. Hornets and carpenter bees are fairly common in Franklin and can cause quite a lot of harm to humans, especially if they’re allergic to the sting. A sting from a bee can range anywhere from a mild injury to a life-threatening event depending on the person who was stung.

Bees and Wasps in Franklin

There are many bees that shouldn’t be problems, such as honeybees and bumblebees, who are fairly passive and benefit the environment around them. Hornets and yellow jackets, however, are incredibly aggressive, do not produce honey, and are technically not bees at all (though accepted as bees, they are actually wasps). In the case of the traditional variety, they die after stinging only once. Hornets are able to sting as often as they please and due to a large amount of acetylcholine, their stings are more painful as well

Carpenter bees pose their own list of problems. They burrow tunnels throughout wooden structures, and yes, that includes your house. In addition to the danger of stings that you have with any bee, carpenter bees cause damage to homes, to different degrees depending on how long they go untreated. They will first dig a round, 1/2 inch entrance into a segment of unpainted wood, and proceed to drill about 1 inch deep. Once the bees drill this tunnel, they will proceed to drill holes in right angles along the grain of the wood. They will continue creating tunnels throughout the wood to breed and hibernate inside of throughout the year, causing notable structural damage.

In Franklin, there are newsworthy sized nests and many different types of bees and wasps, so it’s important to know what kinds you’re dealing with. This page here can help you identify your bee problem, and help determine if you have a need for pest control services from the Masters at Masters Pest Control.
