Hemlock Farms Community Association is located in Pike County, Pennsylvania. The population was 3,271 at the 2010 census. The community is located south of Interstate 84, and surrounds its namesake Hemlock Lake as a 4,500-acre gated community.
In 1927, William Brewster began acquiring the land that would eventually become Hemlock Farms Community Association. In 1963, Home Smith International purchased 4,500 acres for $700,000 in order to convert it from a private estate to a community with 3,726 lots.
Individual property owners now own 95 percent of the lots on which more than 3,000 homes have been constructed, with roughly 1,000 occupied on a permanent basis, and the rest by weekend or summer residents.
