Greenwood Lake

Greenwood Lake is considered a village, located in Orange County, New York in the southern part of the Town of Warwick. Prior to being settled by Europeans in the 1700s, Greenwood Lake was occupied by the Munsee Indians which were considered a branch of the Lenape people.

From it’s early settlement, the large lake in Greenwood Lake attracted tourists and prominent people such as baseball legend Babe Ruth. In 2011, the movie “The Magic of Belle Isle” starring Morgan Freeman was shot in Greenwood Lake and a special movie premiere was held for all residents.
